Festival of Disruption
Through our work with Squarespace and The David Lynch Foundation, we were asked to help with the brand design, voice and experience of David Lynch’s first-ever Festival of Disruption. The music and arts festival was curated by Mr. Lynch himself. Taking his handwriting as the core of the identity, Preacher built out an entire dynamic design system to honor his distinct point of view on the world. Our work drove site design, social media content, collateral, signage and experiential design as well as all the motion and title design for interstitial films throughout the festival. We also designed limited edition merchandise and posters, as well as a massively Instagrammed billboard outside of the Ace Hotel LA stating simply "THE INDIVIDUAL IS COSMIC".
At Preacher, one of the ongoing projects is to further our in-house branding, adhering to certain elements while experimenting in style. Designers are challenged and given opportunities to contribute to everything from print, apparel, event branding, and stained glass.
Squarespace tapped Preacher to help realize a unique and ambitious project to benefit The David Lynch Foundation. Actor John Malkovich took on the roles of director David Lynch's most iconic characters and was captured in films and portraits by legendary director/photographer Sandro. We named, developed and launched the robust digital experience - Playing Lynch: A Collaborative Meditation on the Work of David Lynch. With PlayingLynch.com as the hub, we seeded the campaign with an immersive social media push that included hidden Squarespace sites and an array of clues on Reddit, Soundcloud and Lynch fan sites.
As Irish whiskey gains momentum, the category is still largely defined by its biggest, most mainstream brands. It feels most appropriate for shots at the bar and, of course, wherever you happen to be on St. Patrick's Day. Preacher was charged with eschewing that trend on behalf of a double distilled Irish single malt whiskey called The Tyrconnell. Bearing the name of a racehorse that overcame the odds to claim victory over a century ago, we set out to capture the spirit of triumph and inspire the underdog in all of us. We crafted a world and voice that would stand above the sea of blended whiskeys and offer a sophisticated yet approachable alternative to single malt scotches. With Brave or Else, we spoke to defy-the-odds mentality of our drinker through the legend of our equestrian namesake. And we positioned the whiskey as a fitting reward for challenges bested.
